How freaking cool is this? 0 comments

At the Obama office with Lt. Col. Eldridge Williams of the Tuskeegee Airmen. That's one Army Air Corps/Air Force lieutenant colonel on board; whatdya say we make it two, Dad?

Ten offices 1 comments

Here's our office this morning, at 10:35 a.m.:

There are fifteen of us, hard at work, and we've already dispatched ten canvassers on the day. Better still, this is just one of TEN (not "a few" as I said yesterday) Obama offices in Miami alone. The organization on the ground is just phenomenal.

Here's my data entry group this morning:

The guy in green in the middle is from Kennesaw, so we're repping the Peach State down here. One day I want to be cool enough to pull off a hat like that.

Anyway, I'm doing more data entry, then canvassing during the day. My suggestion was to all put John McCain masks on, then go around knocking on doors shouting "four more years!" tonight. Put a real scare into folks on Halloween. I'm not sure the field organizer is buying it...

Here are a couple pictures from last night in Kissimmee. The conditions for photography were less than ideal, but hopefully you'll get the idea:

So, after four hours of sleep, I drove on to the Miami office:

You can't tell from the picture, but there have been 10 or 12 phone bankers going at all hours since I arrived (and this is just one of several offices the campaign has in Miami alone!) I spent the day doing two canvassing shifts, and as soon as I hit post I'm going to start in on some data entry. I'm having a lot of fun so far, and I haven't even gone to find my first Miami Cuban sandwich yet!

Kissimmee 1 comments

I've just checked in to the Day's Inn in Kissimmee, Florida, after attending a midnight rally featuring the 42nd and hopefully 44th presidents of the United States of America. Watching Bill and Barack play off each other was a fascinating sight. Perhaps better than hearing the two men speak was talking to people in an incredibly large, excited, and friendly crowd. I waited in line for about an hour to park, and then about ninety minutes walking in, but it was well worth it. I'm afraid my phone wasn't up to the challenge of taking decent pictures at distance looking into the lights, so I'm borrowing one from a news site.

I was supposed to stay with a supporter in Miami tonight, but detouring for the rally means I won't make it down tonight. Tomorrow morning I'm setting the alarm for 5am to try to make a 9am scheduled arrival at one of the GOTV offices in Miami. Can't wait. Five days...

Welcome to the blog for my trip to Miami. I'm mostly going to be posting pictures and brief descriptions of what I'm up to here, just so folks can see what I'm up to without me having to e-mail them out individually.

I've got the blog set up, and I'm going to the airport to pick up my rental car in a few minutes. Then I'll throw a suitcase together, set up the XM radio thoughtfully loaned to me by my boy Yarbs, and then hit the road. Please feel free to leave comments, but to any of my friends set on building a bridge to the 20th century, please don't post any arguments here. There are plenty of other places for that, and I'll be ruthless with the moderator's gavel.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to take a day this weekend and/or on Election Day to help out yourself. Check back for updates as we go. Six days till the Change We Need!
